About City Awake

City Awake is the leading platform for next-generation leaders in the Greater Boston area. We are a program of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, one of the leading business organizations in Massachusetts. Talent and workforce development is a top policy priority for the Chamber and its members, who know that in order to attract and retain a talented workforce, we must engage next-generation leaders, understand their perceptions of Greater Boston, address their challenges living and working here, and elevate their voices in creating solutions to the most pressing issues facing our region. We convene, empower and celebrate these leaders and their contributions to our economy and community.

History

City Awake began as a weekend retreat for young adults in December 2013, organized by Justin Kang, who is now Vice President of Economic Growth for the Greater Boston Chamber. Justin grew City Awake from small social gatherings with friends to the platform for Greater Boston millennials with more than 80 programs and events per year. In 2016, City Awake joined with the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce with a focus on retaining, attracting and developing young civically-minded talent in our region.
